Brent and Shelly Harris

The following testimonial was given at a teacher appreciation evening, held in June 2010. Each member of the teaching team is acknowledged with a short speech by a parent of a child in their class.

House: A building for habitation especially one that is lived in by a family. Boundary Bay Montessori is a family. Our son Jack joined the BBMH family 7 years ago and has enjoyed his journey through elementary school in a warm, caring and comfortable environment. Each Directress has had an impact on Jack’s life. They are all patient and kind and they really do celebrate and appreciate each child’s unique qualities.

When Jack was in public school we worried that he may get lost under the radar of ever changing teachers and large classrooms. When you are part of a family you can’t get lost. We know that each Directress is at BBMH because they truly love being there; this is not just a job. I remember sitting at a board meeting once and Lize was relaying a story about some of her student’s accomplishments and she actually got a bit misty eyed. Last year I watched as Jack got off the bus from the intermediate camping trip and walked over to Eileen to receive a BIG hug good bye. Most mere mortals would be completely fried and frazzled after spending three days and nights at camp with 30 tween aged kids but not Eileen!

Deciding to trust not only my son’s education but the shaping of who he is and who he will become to the BBMH family was probably one of the best gifts that we could have given him. We will be forever grateful to all of you for providing Jack with a second home for the past 7 years!
